About

My name is Purvi Garg

I am an international student at Michigan State University, originally from a small town called Mandsaur, India. I’m studying astrophysics and data science, with a passion for uncovering the mysteries of the universe! My current research focuses on detecting neutrino emissions from high-energy cosmic sources like TeV blazars and X-ray binaries using the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. I’ve presented my work at conferences and collaborated with global teams to advance our understanding of cosmic rays and black holes.

Fun fact: When I’m not studying the cosmos, you’ll find me diving into Fiction novels or watching spooky movies!

My Story

Growing up in a boarding school, I often felt lost and alone, but there was one constant companion—the moon. I would spend countless nights gazing at the sky, talking to the moon, and finding comfort in the vastness of space. This connection sparked my fascination with the universe. During my high school years, especially as a junior and senior, it became clear to me that I was destined for astrophysics. The excitement of unraveling the mysteries of stars and space fueled my passion. Choosing astrophysics as my major wasn’t just a career decision—it was a declaration of my desire to follow my curiosity and zeal for the cosmos.
